Introduction
It is rare to find the gifts of beauty, intelligence and fortune united in one person. Most of us are only endowed with the qualities of one, sometimes two, but deficient in those of another. Of course, this would appear a wise economy, allaying the envy of others, while limiting one’s own pride. Yet there have been exceptions to this general rule with a very few inheriting every great, good and admirable quality. Sadly, the advantages enjoyed by these seemingly favourites have often been balanced with a life for the most part unhappy and or short. The life of Lady Jane Grey illustrates this truth in a remarkable manner and her brief history may perhaps teach us to be content with our own lives, however humble they may be.
